My entry at the International Gaza Cartoon Contest (2008) themed "Death in Gaza - Palestinian people are dying - Help us!". I have picked up one of the core issues behind the Israel - Palestine conflict, the Western Wall, often referred to as the "The Wailing Wall" as well. While the Jews lament over their past at the Wall, they are going on virtually building a wall of dead Palestinians, over which no Palestinian might be even left to lament over. No entry so far seems to have touched upon this burning issue. Lets see how it goes among a flood of clones.

I need to break free

A snapshot of my mind taken during one of those countless mind-bending sessions in college. Yes, college, at a point when it meant nothing more than an illustration for KP's "The anatomy of an Egotist", when life was a lot simpler, when the now-regular fits of detachment were a rarity. Been two winters since. Times have become a lot stranger. They say others have matured. Seems to have happened very fast, very smooth, as if each had been programmed to do so. Indifference from such helps, but not in every moment. Often I find myself trapped in here....

surrounded by masked faces, people with goals, personal, but sketched by the media, people with goals but without sight, people without imagination, without fantasies. I'm tired of their fake smiles, their generic whinings, those meaningless etiquettes, their inhibitions, their abstinence, their orderliness. I see myself getting frozen in the predictability of this way of life, in this monotony. I'm decaying among those blank faces. Life is beautiful. It has always been and will always be but maybe not from this angle. I want to break free. I need to break free.

When I had first created this sketch i hardly knew a thing about how grave the situation is, at a time when I thought there is hope, at a time when I thought people like us joining the worldwide campaign against child abuse can make a difference....until I surfed into their world. The invisiblogs being the source of insight into their dark world. Posters, ad campaigns are just meant for us, those with a sense of guilt, those who can feel. These militant atheists are no different from the serial killers we read about. Child abuse, pedophilia is not about sexual orientations. It IS a mental disorder. It is about souls stuck in a world of fantasy who just cant realize what they are doing. Pedophilia is a grisly frame of mind risen from ages of suffering from low-esteem, suicidal tendencies, depression, self mutilation. They don't wear earrings nor do they tell you. They are just there, everywhere, in every corner. This post is not about suggesting solutions, strictures or a plea. It can never be. Its just a message. Not for them but us. Take care of your beloved ones.
